Disclaimer: I CANNOT draw.

Just sharing a concept I had for a new custom.  Actually it's a makeover for Charlie, my Raspberry Sorbet. I kinda lost direction for her after doing her face and have been going back and forth with an idea for her. This is what I came up with.  The dress would use the same pattern I came up with in my last post and I'd have to figure out how to make the antler & ears headband.  Maybe I'll add some art to her eyelid too.

I hope I can pull it off and really bring Charlie to life.

New Shop Items Coming Soon

I've been working on new patterns for the shop.  My favorite so far is this dress which was supposed to be an under dress but I like it too much to cover it.  Can't wait to make a final one.

Efforts to Save Blythe Con NY

So, as you may know BCNY experienced a major financial hit and the conference was at risk of being canceled.  I'll leave out all the details but feel free to dig through the BCNY Facebook page and Bad Dolly Deals for the full story.  Amazingly, the Blythe Community rallied together to Save the Day!!  There were donation coming in left and right and probably the quickest most successful fundraiser I've ever witnessed.  I couldn't miss the opportunity to be a part of the efforts, so even with my limited experience I offered to donate my customization service as one of the fundraiser gifts.  The gifts are being raffled off this evening and I'm a bit nervous and excited to find out who the lucky winner will be.  Stay tuned for more updates on the winner and to see the makeover in the upcoming weeks.

Dolly Update

Hi guys,

Quick update to let you all know of some of my current projects and interest ... I'm super excited about selling my first custom Blythe yesterday!  An awesome lady ordered her from Ebay and let me know she'd be her first Blythe doll.  That obviously made it even better!  I'm also excited about a couple projects I have lined up.

A few weeks ago, I ordered some blank eyechips from CoolCat and will try to hand paint them.  If I'm any good this will be the most economical way to add hand painted chips to all my customs.  I'm also slowly (snail's pace) working my way through the teeswater re-root I blogged about previously.  I haven't worked on it in a while but I did complete the hairline, small victory, and will work on the part lines next.  That's it for Blythe news other than I'll be looking out for my next girl to customize and get started with that.

In other news, I am IN LOVE with BJDs (ball-jointed dolls)!!  Fairyland in particular.  I will continue to love my Blythes but I'll have to make room for the amazing girls I just ordered.  The first is a PukiFee (PKF) Cupid in tan skin (no longer available).  I think this sculpt is ridiculously underrated. The next was a MiniFee (MNF) Rheia also in tan skin.  If you're familiar with Asian BJDs you know that these dolls take months (3-4 on average) to ship so I have time to kill.  I expect the PKF to be here late October and the MNF sometime in November.  Don't worry the wait is totally worth while.

In the meantime I will have to keep myself busy.  I haven't had much time to sew but that will be changing soon.  I have lots of ideas for my Blythe and BJD girls and of course my Etsy shop.

I think that's it.  Thanks for the support.

Candy

London is my second completed custom Blythe. She is currently listed for adoption in my Etsy Shop here.

Isn't she precious?

Do you Etsy?

I do!  Check out my shop for custom dolls, clothes and accessories and anything else I can glue, sew or knit together.

What have I gotten myself into?

Special delivery!  Last week I ordered 2 oz of Teeswater fiber for my first real re-root.  I've attempted a couple times but never had good materials.  My first attempt was on a CoolCat scalp with human hair I cut off a weft.  That started to drive me crazy immediately!  Then I tried synthetic hair on a Takara scalp which wasn't as bad but I wondered why I would spend so much time replacing the old hair with more of the same (maybe even inferior) quality.  Just doesn't sound like a good investment.

Long alpaca was hard to find and too expensive and nylon and saran overwhelmed me with all the color options.  And then I found an Etsy listing for the locks in the picture and loved them. I only hope I got enough!

Hello there!

Hello dollies and gents!  I am starting this blog to share my adventures in creating custom dolls of all types.  I must share that I am new to this community with only a few dolls under my belt but I'm putting it all out there. The good, bad and the ugly.

My current focus is on Blythe dolls. Customization, clothes, photography, everything.  I will share my creations and trials here.

First up...Charley, my most recent WIP.  She's a Raspberry Sorbet Blythe and the first featured Candy Cutie!  Be sure to come back to see her finished look in upcoming post.
